A number of foster carers choose to transfer to Shropshire Fostering because they want to be part of a not-for-profit service, where the decision-making is local.

Transferring to us is super simple. You’ll have a dedicated social worker guiding you, and your fostering allowance and support will continue throughout the process. Our local team works transparently, at your pace, to make sure the move is smooth and respectful to everyone involved – especially the children.

Why Foster Carers Transfer to Shropshire Fostering

Foster carers tell us they move to us for several reasons:

Local placements, close to home

We work hard to keep Shropshire children in Shropshire. so they stay close to their schools, support networks and communities.

A not-for-profit approach

Every penny goes back into supporting our children and carers – not shareholders.

Personal, face-to-face support

You’ll have your own Shropshire-based supervising social worker, plus local training, peer support, and help when you need it.

Better matching

We never pressure carers to accept fostering arrangements they’re not comfortable with. We focus on getting the right match every time.

A genuinely friendly team

Carers consistently say they feel listened to, valued and included when they join us.

Strong links with local schools, health teams and professionals

Which means responsive support for you and the child.

If you feel you’re not getting the support you were promised, or you’re being asked to take placements that don’t feel right, it might be time to consider a change.

How transferring works

Transferring foster carers is a well-established process across the UK, and your current agency should fully support it. Here’s what you can expect when you transfer to Shropshire Fostering:

A simple conversation to start

Get in touch and speak to our team about your situation. This is informal and confidential.

A dedicated social worker

We’ll assign someone who will guide you through the whole transition, so nothing feels unclear or overwhelming.

A streamlined assessment

Because you’re already an approved carer, the assessment is faster and focuses on updating your existing information.

Respect for existing placements

If you currently have a child placed with you, we’ll work closely with your agency and the child’s local authority to ensure stability. The child’s needs always come first.

Panel, approval and transfer

Once your updated assessment goes to our fostering panel, we’ll confirm your approval and agree a handover date with your agency.

Throughout the process, you’ll never be left without support and you’ll always know what stage you’re at.

Start your transfer conversation

We’d love to talk with you. It takes just a few minutes to book a call or send an enquiry. We’ll listen to your experience, answer any questions you have about the transfer process, and help you decide what’s best for you and the children you care for.
