Begin your journey

We’re here for you. Every step of the way.

We’re here for you. Every step of the way.

For the right people, fostering can be one of the most rewarding and life-changing decisions you can ever take. People like you become foster carers for many different reasons: because they want a family; to give something back; because their own children have grown up and left home; because they want to help vulnerable children and young people; because the time is right. And although nobody becomes a foster carer purely for the money, the fact is that fostering is now more rewarding than ever.

Whatever your reasons, you’re about to take the first steps to become a foster carer. And we’ll promise to be with you every single step of the way.

How will you know the time is right to foster?

Foster carers like you tell us fostering’s something they were thinking about for years before deciding to pick up the phone or contact us. Then, one day, it all clicks into place, and they make the decision. That’s where Shropshire Fostering can help, as we make the process as easy as possible for you. Just give our friendly team a call or fill in our enquiry form. We’re here to start you on this exciting, rewarding journey.

“Fostering has made us an even stronger family.”

What sort of children need foster care?

All sorts of children and young people, from babies and toddlers to teenagers. Some have special needs. Others are brothers and sisters who want to stay together. Some are teenagers and young mothers who just need a little extra support before they make their own way in life.

What challenges do foster children face?

Many will have experienced domestic crises, perhaps violence, abuse, illness, neglect, or the affects of alcohol or drug addiction. Most will be feeling bewildered about the prospect of moving in with strangers.

What are the foster carer’s responsibilities?

It all boils down to love, support and stability. Foster carers are there for children while their difficulties get sorted out. This often involves working closely with the children’s parents. But really, it’s all about what every child needs: family life, friends, love and respect.

How do I apply to become a foster carer?

To become a foster carer, the first best step is to complete our simple enquiry form.

One of our team will send you an info pack then we can talk. Let’s chat, without obligation or any big form-filling! Ask whatever questions you like. If you’re happy, we can discuss an informal home visit.
