When we say we’re Shropshire’s biggest family, we mean it. Foster care is rewarding but, like with most journeys, you need good support behind you! That’s why you’ll have Shropshire Council behind you. Our local team will be here for you, your family and your foster child, every step of the way.

Support from your own dedicated social worker
Foster with us, and you’ll enjoy the support that only a council can offer. You’ll have your own dedicated social worker, as well as a special support worker to help and guide you. You’ll also have regular access to a children’s mental health practitioner. And, because our social workers live and work in Shropshire, they’re never far away when you need them.

Payment for Skills Scheme for foster carers
Join Shropshire’s biggest family… and you’ll always have someone to talk to. The Foster Care Association brings together foster carers from across the county, who’ll provide you with invaluable advice and real-life help. Have a cup of tea, share ideas and concerns with carers who will be delighted to pass on their experiences and knowledge.
We’re here for you 24/7 – out-of-hours service for foster carers
Shropshire Council operates a 24/7 out of hours emergency service that carers can access.
Caring for your children too
We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to fostering, so we’ll ensure that your own children feel involved. They’ll be included when providing days out for our looked-after children and young people. You’ll also enjoy a special holiday allowance for your whole family.
Buddy Scheme
It’s good to have someone by your side who’s been through the fostering process. That’s what our buddy scheme is all about – giving you the support of an experienced foster carer in Shropshire who can guide you through the whole fostering journey.
